Red Box WW2 Japanese pilots and ground crew

Posted by Helveticum on 01 Apr 2014, 05:56

Hi Lads
Just few words to say somethings about the release of these figures from Red Box (see PS for images).
I have all 3 boxes of them and I have to say that they are really VERY nice figures and very nice pose too......somethings you're not always expecting from Red Box.
Sculpt is clean, details are good and the variety of pose is just great!

Finally figures to "adobe" ww2 airfield dioramas :-D :-D

Highly recommended figures!! 8)

I'm backing this opinion, those figures are superb and really fill an empty gap for modelers, diorama builders, wargamers and radio control japanese warship enthusiast, still waiting a set of US navy figures because this set is missing too and highly wanted.

Hi guys, may I know if the seated pilots from redbox fit any of the hasegawa bombers or fighters? I currently using PJ productions pilots to fit my nell bomber but they are still too big for some of the smaller fighter such as ki-45 or ki-46.

In case any of you are still building crew for IJA/IJN fighters and Bombers. The latest Hasegawa bomber pilots do fit in well for the lines of bombers such as P1Y1 Ginga "Frances', G4M2 Betty bomber, Ki49 and KI-67.
That set and the legend production B17 pilots was my last 1/72 sets before I moved to 1/35 figures painting

We plan to continue to do this year pilots. The following will be - the Soviet Union. Then Germans, USA, Great Britain... And we will also begin to do pilots in scale 1/48

This is great, more pilots are needed for 1/72 scale especially for bombers e.g. B24, B26, Avro Lancaster, Stirling etc... Navigator, bombardier, pilots and gunner. It is a pity not to see many British tank crew. I bought friendship models for their metal tank crews. I used them for the Italeri Matilda. Other wise Dan Taylor eight army tankers could be used. I try to post the pictures of the pilots in the planes when I have time.

I support this idea. Also Germans for the Desert.

Thanks for this delightful outlook.

Bought all the previous WWII sets from Orion & RedBox so far and like them a lot. :yeah:
Especially looking forward to the upcoming VVS & Luftwaffe figures.
Maybe you could consider seperate sets regarding fighter & bomber crews and ground staff and, furthermore, different seasons & climates?
Especially the announced US figures could benefit from a breakdown into Pacific/Mediterranean (summer) & NW European (winter) sets. Just as the Luftwaffe.

Legend productions B17 pilots for Memphis Belle. I used them for my Hasegawa B24 Liberator J. I did not take them in their cockpit as I sold them off. The bottom left 2 pilots, 1 soviet and 1 german are from Aires. The Legend productions pilots are resin and they have a chunky look which I dislike which is why I sold them off. They fit well in all types of bombers including the Japanese planes.

Dan Taylor 1/76 British Officers and NCOs on parade with woman ATS and auxiliaries, they fit very well into the 1/72 aircraft and tanks. I took all the photos using Samsung hp.
