7 Years War Mexicans

Posted by captainzlog on 26 Jan 2021, 17:08

Given the glacial speed of figure releases for the 7 Years War, I had given up hope of ever seeing a 1/72 plastic set of Austrian Grenzers in my lifetime, and for years looked around for suitable conversion fodder. I finally found it in the Imex Mexican Alamo Mexican Infantry set: firstly they had the long swords and the coat tails being indistinct enough to trim away, as was the peak of the shako. Rolled cloaks were made from a slice of toothpick and the rest mainly a paint job. Officers came from the Zvezda GNW Swedish artillery set. They pass the ten foot rule (sorta), and it's the only way to get these important and numerous units on the table.
