Billy-V Sets

Posted by Auggie on 21 Sep 2018, 03:04

I have recently found this manufacturer for sale on several eBay sellers' sites.
Large sets of ACW; cavalry and infantry, Alamo groups, WW II, American Revolutionary War, the Lewis and Clarke set.
They come in a clear poly bag with an illustrated header card.
I can't see if they are well detailed or their details.
Does anyone have any opinions or have bought a set? Price seems good.
Thanks

I think these are reissues of Imex figures. On the link below if you click on the pictures of the sets it will open up more pictures some of which show the figures. But be aware that the pictures of the figs are from the "Plastic Soldier Review" site and show the original Imex figures not the Billy V reissues. People have mentioned using Billy V figs on the various forums sometimes; I don't recall any complaints about the casting quality.

Just had another look at the Michigan Toy soldier link there are some close up pictures of the Billy V bags, the figures look fine.

You can find reviews of the original Imex sets here:

Thanks Graeme.
I did some further digging and discovered that the BILLY V sets are combinations of 2 IMEX sets.
For example the Lewis and Clarke & the Indians are IMEX sets 508(?) and 523(?) together. The colour of the figs differs from the original IMEX, but seem just fine for painting.
The costs are quite reasonable also.
Look good to me..
Cheers!

If somebody actually physically gets their hands on one of these packs, I hope they will post to the group to share how the re-issued figs themselves are, with respect to mould quality.

You could try asking on the Strelets forum I think I heard them mentioned there by some of the ACW guys in the US.

I should mention that I don't think these are new casts; I don't think this company is still producing them. It's old stock that's being sold on E-Bay.

Yes all BILLY V IMEX blister packs! With a quick build print out for the kids.

The three I placed here are my all time favorites in my boxed toy collection. BB

I received the two Billy V sets today. Lewis Clarke and Indians and The Conestoga Wagon and Western Settlers sets.
Wow! These are very good for the price. Great detail, no flash to worry about, semi hard plastic.
Very happy with the sets. Might get more ......

I wonder if they are just IMEX overstocks. Nice to know they are out there.

Seems to be unavailable everywhere at a reasonable cost, especially the pioneers/settlers set which is a shame cause that was really the best.
