Star Wars - Imperial Officers in /72?

Posted by Airscape on 17 Jun 2017, 17:12

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows if you get any in any of the Bandai or Fine Molds kits as an extra?

At the moment I'm struggling to find any WWII era German Officers that fit the bill, bar maybe 2 or 3, and even then they'd need a little converting.

I know there's the Micro Machines ones, but they're more like 1/76 and look tiny next to my Stormtroopers and Darth Vader! Any help is appreciated as not sure what else I could use :-)

Dave--

Here is what I would do:

Step 1) Abandon your star wars project and switch to Roman Republican period;

Step 2) Paint some legionairres;

Step 3) Use any color that strikes your fancy for the robes;

Step 4) Sit back and watch the fur fly.

Step 5) Switch to nappies.

:D ;p

Hahaha!!!

It probably is the best idea, but I'm much more of an ancient Greek type of person than Roman ;-)

Unfortunately I'm too far ahead now with Star Wars to give up - I will find a way!

I recall some of the Imperial Officers in Star Wars having tall boots like riding boots. Also their caps looked kind of like Austrian WWI caps. So maybe some dismounted WWI cavalry, with maybe an Austrian head swap or a German Mountaineer?

Peter Cushing, who played Grand Moff Tarkin, found the costume riding-style boots so uncomfortable that he got permission to shoot most of his scenes while wearing slippers.

Thanks for the idea! I'll see what I can find :-)

Would love to see those scenes done in slippers! Hahaha

Does it have to be officers? In which poses?

Hi Ben,

Sorry about the delayed response! Not necessarily, however, with having Darth Vader and stormtroopers, it'd be nice to have something like officers to direct things from the back. I've got a couple of AT-ST's too, so anything that looks like the drivers of these could be useful too.

Regards,
Dave

Hello Dave,

No problem about the delay ;)

You have At-STs in 1/72??? Would be most interesting to me. I do Star Wars miniatures for my personal use from time to time. Never did imperial navy officers though. But if you describe me one or two poses you would need, maybe I can be of help

Kind regards

Ben

Hi Ben,

Again, sorry about the late reply!

The AT-ST's I have are these https://2screens.files.wordpress.com/2017/07/at_st_weiss.jpg/

Not 100% to scale, but based on details from Wookieepedia, and images from books, they're close enough! I got mine from Ebay, but Shapeways have some stuff too (although they're expensive!).

The officers wouldn't have to be in any certain position, maybe pointing, as if ordering troops forward or hands behind their back, just watching events unfold. The German officers from WWII are the closest I've found, but they need a lot of converting, and don't have the time or skill lol.

Hello Airscape,

I can't find the AT-STs... the address doesn't work. I had a try at an imperial officer. You can see it here. Still a WIP

Kind regards

Hi Ben,

Not sure why the picture isn't showing, but basically the AT-ST'S are 'Star Wars Miniatures - General Weiss AT-ST' models.

Like I said, not 100% to scale, but I'm happy enough with them until I can find some true to scale ones.

I can't see your imperial officer either.

Dave

Hi Ben,

Just realised I put Star Wars Miniatures for the AT-ST's, but that's the AT-AT I've got.

The AT-ST's are from the Star Wars: Imperial Assault game. They've also released an AT-DP, which I got today and it fits in well too.

Regards,
Dave
