Airfix Waterloo Wargame

Posted by Wolfie65 on 03 Apr 2014, 14:30

There seems to have been a board game of this name , produced by Airfix, with the original Waterloo Airfix troops molded in red and blue hard plastic, as often seen in board games, possibly released around 2000 or so. Does anyone have this, play this or know anything about it?

I saw one on E-Bay a couple of weeks back, I think it was a starting price of £50, don't know if it sold or not.

1975 seems to me like a more correct year. Remember it from some catalogue way back so my guess would have been mid70s. Fabrizio found it.

Thanks for the link, Fabrizio, it kind of reminds me of a couple of games with Elastolin figures, one pitting Romans against Carthage, another Custer at Little Bighorn.
Susofrick - The 1975 release was the Waterloo Assault Set (one of my most treasured possessions), which wasn't a board game, but contained 1 box each of British infantry, hussars, highlanders and artillery, French infantry, guards, cuirassiers and artillery, as well as the La Haye Sainte farmhouse and some scenic accessories.

Update: I just found the rules on the excellent Vintage Wargaming website, they're only 6 pages! I do not have the game, the mat/board or the bases, calipers and time counter, but all that is easily improvised kitchen table, ruler, etc.), and I've got lots of Nappies, including original Airfix. A first read of the rules reminded me a little of DBA.
