Member's gallery or "showcase"

Posted by Ray.Caruana on 31 Mar 2016, 17:35

Dear Benno and admins team
May I suggest that a member's gallery be created (if possible of course) where members can upload there finished work as in a personal showcase. There's already a gallery in the forum I know, but this will be by members not by topic. What are your views please?
Thanks.

I like the idea. I think there is a plug in available to enable galleries for users. Are there more members who would like to see something like this?

It would be nice... and sometimes it would be easier to find work that is posted long time ago.

Easy. Just create a thread "XXXX´s Gallery" and post to it whenever you´ve got something new.

Can't argue with your clear-sighted logic, Paul! I'm left wondering what Benno's gallery plug-in would have been like though...

A couple of Problems with making a constant thread on say the Gallery section,

1. If it´s not updated it dissapears down the pages which may or may not be difficult for the member to re-find.
2. Posting new work would bring it to the top of the listings but , no matter how good the new work may be, it might not get seen...some People may not (or not regularily)visit constantly updated threads.

Creating a new section for Members Gallery / Showcase / Portfolio or whatever would solve having to hunt in the existing sections but it won´t entirely solve the problem. Occasionally I have to hunt a bit on this Forum for mine

Actually, your thread, BB`s Toy Figures, is a good example of what I mean. ;-)

What you can do is just start a thread in the Gallery section...that any one can keep adding various pics too!
to give you an example on the treefrog toysoldier forum there was a thread started in the diorama section.
about ten years ago and still going strong I think its up to 500 pages....its called "bored tonight post a diorama"
most of it is 54/60mm but also some 28mm stuff on there....and all time periods also.
pretty much a free for all.....just come up with a catchy name and off we go!
PS...would be more fun if open to various scales..i think?
