La Haye, Smohain and Frischermont

Posted by Captain Sibourne on 07 May 2026, 06:42

The North East part of my Waterloo model is coming along. I've built the section that links La Haye Farm to Smohain and Frischermont and begun the process of adding the figures. The section is about 6 metres long in total.

There are many thousands of figures to add so I've only just got started.

The changeable weather meant that I had to take the model outside quickly to avoid showers so the uneven ground didn't give me time to adjust levels. There are also many terrain inconsistencies and snags to overcome but you can see that it is coming together. Here are a few pictures of the terrain and some of the figures:

Fine additions to your Herculean enterprise Captain.

Your father’s houses look the part and the research to get this normally ignored part of the Battlefield right is most impressive.

Nice to see you back on the forum.

Fingers crossed that it continues working for all of us.

Best wishes,

Chris

There’s no doubt that every time you post a new update on your project, Captain Sibourne, it’s a real treat to see it. And, as always, my admiration for the work you’re doing—which Chris so aptly describes as Herculean—is growing all the time.

Some more pictures, showing the 1st/28th Orange-Nassau regiment defending Smohain. No wonder the Prussians thought they were French!

That certainly clears up any confusion i may have had over the Nassau troops (blue or green?). My apologies for not getting any casualties to you. Progress is slow for me having never done any Nassau or Prussian troops before. They will arrive eventually. Nice work James,

Excellent work on this usually overlooked, but interesting part of the battlefield.

Nassau troops were uniformed in green, and also in blue outfits as seen here.

Great work Captain with lots of imagination on display .

Best wishes,

Chris
