Friday afternoon in Luxembourg gardens

Posted by Michael Robert on 11 Feb 2026, 12:58

Hello,

little time and few visits to our forum, but I'm still painting. So here is a small vignette with tambours majeurs. Just great figures from Franznap completed by also excellent figures from Strelets. My photography is shit as always - really not my strength. Nevertheless, I like the figures. Hope to find the moment to post the other tambours majeurs figures.

Hope you like them
Many greetings
Michael

Hello Michael,

nice idea for a peacefull small vignette.
Imho some plants would be great in the scene and maybe a guardsman for the emperor.

I like the tambour majors as well. Good to have for variety. I am looking forward to see the others coming.

It's a beautiful diorama, Michael, and just the style I like: historical, with military figures mixed with civilians, but not in a war scene, rather in everyday life during peacetime.

Hello,
Yes, great idea, well implemented. I would say the base needs to be a bit more detailed somehow.

This is a loveley and serene scene, very nice.
But have you tried to take pictures with a photo from a real garden in the background - perhaps even the Jardin du Luxembourg? The result might be stunning.

Hello,
thank you greatly for your comments. Just on a trip and late to reply.
I completely see your point that the base needs "more" to bring the scene alive. Initially I hoped the figures alone will do the job, but no. Will try. Also better photography and yes, sberry, a good background can be amazing as you have proved.
The other drum majors are all painted. I adore these sculpts. Only one has a project for a base. For the others I need to have good ideas yet.

Many greetings
Michael
