Here is the final output of the project (you can find all details of the work in progress at this link.
http://bennosfiguresforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=27023

The diorama is about the Diadochies wars after the death of Alexander the Great, covering the battle of Ipsus (301 b.C.) fought between Antigonus and the alliance among Lysimachus, Cassander and Seleucus.

This battle is famous for the very high number of elephants present, Plutarch wrote 75 on Antigonus side and an astonishing number of 400 on the allied side (the winner at the end), therefore is plausible to show a clash of elephants against a phalanx.

The elephants and crew are from Zvezda and Linear (this one quite modified, here below )

The phalangites are taken from 3 Linear boxes, while the two skirmishers are from Zvezda Greeks, the base as usual is cork.

About 170 hours in 6 months were spent to complete this diorama, I really loved it, I hope you will enjoy the result :-D

Hello Iceman
It's not my era. Sometimes you have to look beyond the horizon, and what do I see? A wonderful little work of art. I see the painstaking and meticulous painting of the figures, a beautiful idea, a good appealing base, interacting figures. All in all, a little work of art for which I can only congratulate you. Bella Fantasica.

I really like the composition with the downed elephant getting steamrolled by the phalanx while dealing some desperate blows. Your dio looks most impressive. Wonderful work!

Wow, Enrico. As expected after seeing the extraordinary progress you showed us in the "Work in Progress" section, the final result lives up to expectations. This time, I'm not going to ramble on about every extraordinary element of the diorama; I'll summarize it in a single idea: A SUPERB MASTERPIECE, as we're accustomed to with all your projects. :notworthy:  :notworthy:  :notworthy:

My very best congratulations!

Santi.

There's an awful lot to like in this diorama.
I will comment on the very clever use of space - putting the phalanx in a corner so you get the sense of the dense formation whilst cutting the numbers of figures you need in half.

And the poor phalangite "crowd surfing". Really excellent.

Hello Enrico,
I am impressed. Your diorama is very nice. Since Linear-A is going to expend the rang of the armies of the successors it is right on time to motivate everybody to have a closer look at this colourful and interesting period of time. I have to learn a lot about it.

The composition of your work is nice. I also find the idea to put the phalanx in one corner very convincing. And the conversion of the dying elephant is the central spot. I have followes the wip of this project and I will stay tuned for your next one, for sure.

A great diorama with a mass effect for the phalanx, well done. Very nicely done. I'll also be following the next one and I'm already impatient!

This is truly outstanding! I love how you made figures from the same mold unique with different paint jobs, it really brings them to life. The figure placement is so challenging to get right to convey the feeling of the scene - again I think you nailed it! Backing the men all the way up to the edge of the diorama with the elephants coming at them conveys that feeling of fear that I would expect they felt with those animals charging them.

Thank you so much for sharing!!!
