A Tibur Fantasy

Dear Enrico and Santi,
thank you! I must admit that I love the special atmosphere of this scene at sunset too.
But one shouldn’t try the same trick too often: Fortunately, my next project will not be suited for this particular dark background, so there is no temptation…

Thank you everybody for the new comments – a nice surprise upon returning to the forum after a long break.

For the temple walls I have used simple block colors (light gray, white) with a blue washing for getting a blueish hue on the marble parts, followed by dark washing for the patina. I wanted the buildings to look quite aged and weathered; I am glad you like the result.

In my projects the figures are usually a wild mix from different manufacturers, combining elegant sculpts e.g. by Erik Trauner / Nikolai, Cryns or Phersu with the, well… not always so elegant figures by Strelets or Linear B. In the end, they seem to blend together quite well when painted in the same style. But in the first stages of a project, when everything is still unpainted, I always ask myself “do you really think it is a good idea to use all these figures together?”
