HäT Cossacks repainted and based

Posted by MABO on 02 Jan 2025, 09:29

Good old HäT Cossacks. I had painted them ages ago, but since I like this set for being one of the first from this manufacturer and also because there are no other Cossacks, I wanted to fresh them up and base them finally. No big job, but nevertheless, now they could be added to my Nappies range.

I don't know what they looked like before, but now, after the retouches, they look great, Jan. ;-)

Nice! Have one or two boxes lying somewhere in the hobbyroom.

Snappy looking Cossacks MABO. I never made it past the cleaning flash stage of mine. Nice to see how they actually can look when well painted and based. Good work,
Cheers,

They look very rugged fellows.

You have brought these gentlemen to life.

Excellent work.

Best wishes,

Chris

Have to agree with everyone in saying what a fine depiction of these Cossack ruffians you have done. They really were beautiful figures for their time, they haven't aged too much and you have done a fine job of revamping them. The only thing i think you could have done was to remove the mould line running smack down the middle of the horses face. With a sharp blade, and a touch up with enamel paint you'd have improved them even more.

I particularly love the cossack with the eye patch whose inspiration was most certainly a character who 'bit the snow' with a bullet from Feraud (or was it d'Hubert) in the Duellists - filmed by the way in the Scottish Highlands if i am not mistaken.

Congratulations Mabo, you have definitely captured the essence of the Cossacks..

Cool Cossacks. Did I see an eyepatch on one of them. Now that's character!
