Sd.Kfz 251/17 Late in Hungary

Posted by Quepwik on 07 Jun 2024, 13:03

So so long time, i comme here ! Shame on me

Here is my latest work, a little dio featuring a Sd.Kfz 251/17 in Late version.
It belongs to the 1st-SS-Panzer and takes place in Hungary at the end of February 1945.
The base is the Dragon with 3D printed add-ons.
The modification to make it a Late is simple: you have to change the engine hatch and slightly modify the armor of the 20mm gun.
Plate hatch front front view too.
The figures are 3D printed from an ebay seller.

This in my opinion is brilliant.

My initial impression was reality, the modellers nivarna.

There is a real feel of the period here with the groundwork, vehicle and figures all to the highest standard.

I am most envious of your work.

Best wishes,

Chris

I want to thank you Peter and CM Dodson for your kind word.

Unlike the 1/35 where the figurines can give life and interact with each other, the 1/72 must show something through general attitudes and create an atmosphere to tell a story. This is what I tried to do.

And to do it well, you have to work on each detail one by one so that overall, you can approach perfection.

This is how I work on my dioramas, or at least I try

I would not worry about that as your work speaks for itself.

I am a fan of the human interactions as opposed to just putting figures here and there.

Your composition has the natural air of real life. Peter is right. That telegraph pole is excellent.

Great late war scene, very well made!
Especially your wet snow looks very realistic.
As does the residue of the whitewash still visible on the vehicle.

Simply some "wet ground" and "puddles" AK Interactive/Ammo MIG products with some glossy varnish
