I see that most of the figures you've used for these lancer units are the excellent ones from Waterloo 1815, Joan. The originals are good, but after your paintjob on them, they're even better now. Great work! :notworthy:  :notworthy:

WOOOOW........what a nice surprise Joan. An absolutely stunning depiction of the often ignored or neglected French line lancers who played a major role in all the battles they took part in, none moreso than Waterloo itself. Love the aptly named Waterloo 1815 figures that are indeed beautiful sculpts but what i most love is the way you have joined them with Franznap`s splendid standing lancers and you`ve merged them so well, with your inimatable painting and basing, that they look as though they are all from the same manufacturer. A truly terrific thread good sir, my congratulations go out to you.

Thank you very much lads

I was'nt sure about the green... Do you think uniforme should be or a bit darker shade?
I'm doing french Dragons and I was thinking using darker green tone for coats.

Many thanks for any advice

Hello...

Sorry for not being around for so long.
The truth is that my painting skills have been declining (mainly my eyesight is not as sharp as it used to be) and it takes me much longer than before to complete my figures.
I am impatient by nature and at some point I got too frustrated and stopped painting.
I think I have overcome it and accepted it and I think I will get back to it :xd:

I hope you're all doing well.

Warm regards!

Joan

Welcome back, Joan. Those latest Napoleonic units look fantastic, both the Austrian and the French. :notworthy:

Try to accept the inevitable decline that comes with age; it affects all of us who get older. If it's any consolation, I think these figures are just as spectacular as all your previous ones. ;-)

It's great to see some of your work again! I still love those subtle and very realistic colors you use.
And I, too, can't see any decline in your painting skills with your newer figures, but I understand what you mean. Same over here… After two decades in the diorama hobby, I've accumulated a lot of experience that should, in theory, make my work better and better. But unfortunately, this is being offset by advancing age and, above all, declining eyesight.

excellent work Joan, declining eyesight is common for us , but experience and good magnifying glass are useful to improve the situation ;-)

How marvelous Joan to see you displaying your beautiful wargames miniatures back here on bennos. Like the others I dont see any deterioration in your painting skills but that`s maybe because my eyes are worsening too. Sadly old age is catching up with us all. However, i don`t think whatever set your figures apart from others was that they were necessarily painted better than everyone elses but rather your figures have always been so captivating, so uniquely yours because of your ability to make your units come alive with clever mixing and matching of different figure manufacturers on a multi figure base that in my honest opinion nobody else can do quite like you. Furthermore, you have extremely good taste in the way each mini seems to be wearing a slighly different shade of his uniform colour that brings a realism to your units that again is undeniably yours. And lastly your troops all seem to be of slightly different heights and builds to their comrades which i personally think so often spoils units of beautifully painted figures - they are all exactly the same height. Not sure if you convert your figures to make some individuals taller than their comrades or simply you base them so cleverly that you create that optical illusion. Regardless, you are a master of your trade and indeed I take my hat off to your repertoire of modelling skills.
Ps, i recommend you buy an optivisor which helps tremendously to counterbalance the passing of years and our failing eyesight.

Good to see you again with new figures, vry well done! I can share your feelings about getting older. I can't paint without a magnifer lamp since decades. And at the moment, I have to deal with a lot of things, that kept and keep me away from painting. This is frustrating for me as well. So I will take this pot as a motivation!

Dear friends, you are truly the kindest and most encouraging people you can find in this hobby.

Thank you very much for your time!

Let's see if I can find the willpower to stay in the Napoleonic period for a while.
It's a painting nightmare :eh: :-D but truly rewarding.
Right now, a couple of foot french dragoons battalions and four line artillery bases in progress...

All the best!

Joan

I love your nappies Joan. They're fabulous, especially your French light infantry. Great mix of Zvezda voltigeurs and HaT figures.. You have a nice wide variety of units too. Splendid work !
cheers,
