Prussian Infantry 1815

Hello...

it's been a long time since the last Napoleonics I painted. Now I remember why I stopped making them…

So many cuffs, epaulettes, shoulder straps, collars, buttons... And if you're impatient and messy like me, they're quite a stress test.
Anyway, I want to try them again, at least until my nerves say enough...

It's too hard to find my old posts on the subject and the images are probably no longer visible.
So better start a new thread.

Looking at the fantastic collections of Nappies displayed around, my figures look quite plain and crude...

As you've probably noticed, I'm not a big fan of painting fancy, smartly dressed units. For these Prussians, I've used various shades of gray on the pants and leggings to give that battle worn look that I love so much.

Next Prussian battalion is not going to be clad in blue...

That's a beautiful Prussian unit, painted in your characteristic style, Joan.
When I saw your troops for the Spanish Civil War, I have sometimes wondered what Napoleonic figures would look like in your style. Well, they don't disappoint me at all and I find them fascinating in their battle worn look.

1rst battalion Prussian Berg Regiment

Hi,
I finally found some free time to finish a couple of units that have been sitting almost finished on my painting table for a while.

At the time of Waterloo, some Prussian battalions still wore their old white uniforms. Since you're all mostly focused on painting them in the traditional blue uniform, I wanted to add some variety.

I know that most people like to portrait musquet era uniforms clean and smart. For me, the battlefield is dirty and dusty no matter the period.

I love these guys - without doubt those are the muddiest whites I have ever seen. You do wonder what a white uniform would have looked like after a few years of campaigning!!

Well, after years they would be dressed in rags... without a trace of white, or any other color for that matter...

Try to follow your daily routines in white for a couple of weeks and send me a pic...

Other uniforms looked just the same after when we were in the field! When we woke up in the morning we jumped in our standing trousers!

This is another fantastic addition of units to your Prussian army, Joan!
Your painting style may indeed be a bit more atypical than what we usually see on this forum, but I think they are great. They really look like they have been walking through dust and gunpowder fumes for days.
