DBA Norman Army III/52

Posted by MABO on 16 Jan 2022, 17:59

Here you see my new DBA Norman Army III/52. I used Strelets figures I have painted some years ago.

General and Milites (3Kn) and 2 Breton Cavalry (Cv)

Hordes (7Hd)

And here you see the whole army.

Now I have to look for a n opponent...
Maybe I can start painting a Anglo-Saxon Army after my Prussian project.

Dear Mabo, I did the same DBA Norman army years ago ...
Unfortunately, it didn't look as good as yours.
Just a comment if I may ... The horde is usually made with lower-ranking warriors, in Norman times probably barefoot and armed with just sticks and knives.
I used some of the Robin's Airfix figures to make mine.
All the best!

Hello Joan,

that is correct! I must admit, that I had only these figures left for the moment. I will create another one when painting the Anglo-Saxons. And the horde is only one option out of 7, so not really important. But thanks for your advice and the kind words.

Fabulous looking Normans. Great painting on the mail, faces and horses; and the splashes of colour really give them a lift.

I love the shields, especially the dragons.

Great army Mabo. Ah, if we lived nearby, we could organize a meeting with my future armies from the same period... Even if these Normans are more effectively those who followed William the Conqueror, less those who ventured into Italy!

Hi Jan
Looks like a winning army. Your conversions with the lances and fanions are perfect. Like them a lot
Proposal: If you come to Normandy again I promise ti build an opposing Viking or Anglo-Saxon army. Then you can teach me DBA rules :-)
And I win :-)

What a gorgeous army, Mabo! It looks impressive, the opposing army will need high morale to fight back indeed :)

Congratulations!

Superb! Eye candy! And I am lucky enough to see it in real life soon (I hope).
And that pushes me to prepare the deserved foes: either Andalusian Arabs or Sicilian Arabs. They'll have to wait a bit before getting on my desk, but they are officially in my to-do list.
