The Popemobile

PhilC wrote:Impressive result... The texture of the car looks like sugar, maybe because it looks very matt on the picture. Maybe you might add a layer of gloss varnish ?

Graeme wrote:I think the texture of the car fits perfectly with Santi's figure painting style...

You are right, Phil, though I like to use always matt varnish, perhaps a gloss one would go better with cars. But I think Graeme is right too, this way my personal painting style extends also to other items apart of figures.

Egbert wrote:Hello my friend,
It's unbelievable how accurate your painting is again.
You did a great job portraying the car.

Licaón wrote:I'm amazed by the incredible precission and cleanliness of the car and the miniatures! I've seen the Pope's cohort and the Swiss guard forum threads as well, and wow... Congratulations, Santi! ...

Thank you very much for your positive feedback, mates. As I use to say, it's always a pleasure to post anything here in the forum for such an appreciative audience. :-D

despertaferro wrote:...We all know that you like my "mojón" only because it is the Vatican mojón... :xd:..

Hum, Joan, I hadn't noticed that, but maybe my subconscious betrayed me, hahaha. :-P

Licaón wrote:...By the way, I don't know if you've watched the film, but since it is a topic that interests you, I recommend you the movie "The Two Popes".

Thanks so much, Licaón, I take note to see it sometime I have enough time for it.

Some more pictures of the finished popemobile, two without the armored cabin to see better the Pope's armchair, and the rest with the Swiss Guard or the Gendarmerie bodyguards in different positions:

Thank you very much for your kind words, friends. Anyway, I think I'm too old to change my painting style at this point of my life.

To close definitively this thread, these are the last pictures, comparing the original car with the final popemobile (yes, I know that Peter will prefer the first one in gold, but I hope everybody else will choose the second. :winky: ).

Thanks again, guys. ;-)

Well, one project finished, but I have others in process (for example, the never ending diorama of the Swiss Guard, Pope and Cardinals) and several more in the initial phase of creation, search for suitable figures (do you remember the figure dedicated to my friend Mar? Well, perhaps in a next future I will have something new about it), etc.
