Spanish Aides de campe

I have been dipping back into my Spanish forces lately after playing my Somosierra game and a replay of my Barossa scenario. We have been playing around with incorporating ADC's into our Over the Hills battlefields, and I wanted to create a few dedicated figures for the Spanish, as I did for my British a while back.

The Spanish first introduced aides de campe into their forces in 1728. The Spanish generals followed the French tradition of dressing their aides de campes (also called Ayudantes Reales, or Royal Aides) up in some fairly fantastic uniforms.

These figures are all conversions from the Italeri French command set. I have posted more pics on my blog here:
https://tinywarsplayedindoors.blogspot.com/2021/06/spanish-aides-de-campe.html
but here are the three figures with their original unpainted figure beside them.

Really nice conversions Bill showing some great thinking.

Your ubiquitous scenery shows them off to great effect as always.

Excellent work.

Best wishes,

Chris

Massomo Costa made some Spanish officers, I think you know maybe.

Wonderful conversions, although the first mounted guy in green has a face that only a mother could love. Mine turn out that way sometimes, too.

You are right, Mabo, that is a very fine command set! I think I will put it on my wish list - up until now, most of my Spanish commanders are converted French. Massomo Costa is the same sculptor who did the Hagan Portuguese, correct? Those I do have.

Too funny! Yes, now that you mention it, he is pretty ugly. The same could be said for the third... :xd:

FYI I mentioned this on my blog, but they were based on this Dighton illustration.

Yes that is correct. He made some other Peninsular sets like the first Spanish Horse Artillery.

Thanks, all, for the kind comments.
Davide b, I don't think I have any photos of the other figures at the moment other than some of the Portuguese ox cart you can see in the background in my blog here: https://tinywarsplayedindoors.blogspot.com/2018/11/portuguese-ox-carts.html
