Napoleon & Cie

Hello,
I started to paint a Napoleon's staff from schilling miniature and here is the result.

Junot, Mortier, Grouchy

Napoléon, Gouvion Saint-Cyr, Murat, Castella

They are put on a rod and trimmed for the next layer by Vallejo.
Sepia wash and dry brushing of white.
Vallejo flesh colour with darkote flesh from citadel.

I think I'm done with this Napoleonic staff.
I'm happy with the global result even if after the pictures, I find that some figures have too dark skin like Grouchy...

Lovely stuff. How did you achieve the gold detail on the turnbacks and tassels of the Murat figure?

With a brush and paint! ;-)

Joking aside, I used 3 Citadel gold paints from darkest to lightest and brighter.
Before the last drybrush with the very shiny gold I passed a Citadel nul oil wash.
I did the same for each figure.

However, the figures are very large...

Those are very nice figures finely painted. And I think its fine for generals to be a bit larger than life! You certainly want them larger than Napoleon... ;-)

The technique worked very well. I do not have Citadel paints, but if I did, I would try it myself.

Yes but since there are tons of figures in the meantime. You always have to collect the ones that match your needs for a special project.
