These are fantastic legionaries! I love the freehand on the shields and the colours are strong and distinct. I can see the use of washes for the chainmail and metals, all very nice.

Even if I am not a preacher myself  , I totally agree with what MABO has written. What do we need here ?
1. Good company (even from people with shocking avatars  )
2. Encouragement
3. Constructive criticism and advice
4. Satisfaction for the job done (yes, I CAN get satisfaction sometimes)

I feel like it's easier to just offer general encouragement and while it's important, legitimate critique of painting and modelling efforts is probably more helpful but I suppose how it's delivered that is important. And that comes down to tact, you don't have to attack anyone or make it personal, and it you're objective and trying to genuinely help, especially if it's constructive criticism, that's prob the best thing you can do.

End of the day, we'll playing with toy soldiers, we don't have to demoralise anyone. My painting speed is more than adequate for that.

Thank you all for your very kind feedback. Thank you Mabo for digging up some early efforts of mine, these are a nice reminder to myself to keep improving (and of course, to keep enjoying!).

Thank you all again. I've painted some Strelets Auxilary as a follow up. The sculpts although chunky, do have a certain charm to them in my opinion. Thanks for looking!

Yeah the chunky is fun, almost look like heroic proportions. At least it makes painting easier!

Nice auxiliaries, again, digging the shields.

Thanks everyone for your kind words! I've added some reinforcements for the auxiliaries. I've also taken a photo of all the doomed Roman forces together. Thanks for looking!

Brave units. Well painted. I don't want to have them as an opponent.
