Attack at Quatre Bras 1815

Posted by paul haring on 29 Oct 2020, 16:21

Finally this project is done.
I started somewhere in 2016 and it stayed on the shelf till now.
Dutch Husars of nr 6 regiment did a rushed attack on enemy cavalry at Quatre Bras. They were scattered and reassembled again. They didn't engage battle anymore that day. But because of their action Wellinton gained time to put his troops in position at Waterloo.
The diorama depicts the overhastely, rushed attack.
It is done in 1/72 , painted in acrylics.
You can read more about this project on my blog

OK, after I took the photo's I discovered a big blob on the sword of one of the Husars. It's gone now, but not on the picture.

Marvelous painted horses and riders and well executed terrain. I really like this project.

When I am going to show a figure here at Bennos, sometimes I take a pre-display picture. It is a great way to spot some areas that need a little extra help before the final submission goes in.

I should have done that too. But I wanted to post this subject too hasty. Ah well, one learns from his mistakes

I really like these. Looks like the HaT set with a Revell bugler perhaps? The rich blues of the pelisse and dolman are particularly nice as are the sharp outlines of everything on the horses. Well done Paul!

The shading on the horses and the dapple grey are so well executed it almost calls to mind the horses of Marvin.

Very nice indeed.

Super painting standard and a nice action feel about them.

The original unit went into action unformed and got a serious battering as a result by French 6th Chasseurs.

Well done.

Best wishes,

Chris

That's right. Therefore I didn't place them in formation

Thanks for posting that guide, but I have to say it: your horses look much better than the painted examples in the tutorial you posted.
