British Napoleonic ship of the line diorama 1/72 scale

Posted by Gail on 12 Jul 2020, 16:34

A nice resin model but hard to put together for me anyway, it took three try's before I was happy with the diorama, Figures are all Hat Royal Navy and Marines sets, bit of converting to some of the crew. Hope you like it. And the ship is from Germania Figuren. I know the photos are rubbish, but best I can do when using the camera I have at the moment.

Hi Gail,

nice dio. It reminds me of a Mme Toussaud's display I saw when I visited London as a child. Some time ago... :(
To my mind - and this is an encouragement - you can improve by adding dirt, smoke, chaos and everything. The setting is there, but the feeling of ship battle in this crowded space is not quite there yet.
Cheers

Thanks Michael, I didn't know how far to take it, to set it up at the start of the battle or during the battle, I'll have a think about it on what to do next, thanks for your ideas.

As requested I have added more Crew, as well as more Marines and was able to get some Royal Naval Officers, I have not gone any further than add a few more crew, I didn't want to add battle damage etc, just encase I messed it up.

hallo
I love this kind of sail boat battle scene. However, I noticed that the scene layout was not perfect. It is suggested to refer to the battle scenes of Archibald Haddock ancestors and Red Rackham in the movie 《The Adventures of Tintins:The Secret of the Unicorn》.
PS, because it is machine translation, so my meaning may not be very smooth.
cheers

Thanks KurskTiger, unfortunately I can't change it even if it is wrong, being a resin model, and I used super glue to hold all the figures it would cause too much damage, I'm happy with it, but thank you for your advice.

I think seeing a section of the ship is really cool.

Excellent scene and very nice work! I do like the multi-level view of the action, there's something new to see in every view.

Cotton Wool makes for great smoke effect.
There is no need to paint it either, just pull it out to fluffy fine.
And no need to add it permanently but just for a photo shoot.
It can give the illusion of gunfire and movement.

Anyway that said,i like what you've been able to do Gail. Bravo! BB
