"El awrence" Lawrence of Arabia

Posted by praga on 14 May 2020, 17:47

Today i`m finished with my latest Dio
The Rolls Royce is from Roden with resin spoke wheels. Most of the figures are from the excellent Arab sets from Strelets. Two Arabs are from Esci. The Englishman on the car is from Hät but with a self-formed head. The two camels are from HÄT. The dunes are made of plastic from Aurora - very old - were once included in the "Rat Pack" kit. The trunks of the palm trees are branches from the garden or forest. The palm leaves are cheap plastic parts from China - but repainted. The house and the fountain are made of resin.

Best regards, Jens HIlgraf

Ok, you show us some deleted scenes form "Lawrence of Arabia".

Now, this is a figure forum !
Where are the painted figures?
:-D

The resin wheels are interesting. Who do that ?

If you think, well now you probably know all plastic kits and boxes (WWII 1/76, 1/72 ) from the 70ies till now and a great source is Henk of Holland, praga simply present something new.

Can`t remember to see from Aurora: The Rat Patrol.
Are the set included figures 1/72 or close to it ?

Nice Dio with great made pictures.
Funny. You can only identified the Dio`s time line by the car.
:yeah:

very funny - I have indeed "Rat Pack" written but I was like "Rat Patrol" - there was probably a link inmy brain not right.
In the Aurora kit were the dunes, a water hole with palm trees, very bad 1:87 scale tank model etc.
But I always found the dunes beautiful. Bought some in the US last year.
Here is the box art

The wheels are from a 1:76 model from milicast

Very nice as usual. The Rat Pack was Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr. and a couple of partying buddies I think. I think that we have other members here that can make a dio with them. :-D

Very nice indeed.

With the subject matter the shadows that normally invade pictures only add to the scene.

Excellent work.

Best wishes,

Chris

Great scene! The scenery and composition are very good and the painting of the figures is terrific.

Hello Praga,
I missed your contribution. I am only more appreciative discovering it now. I find it a very inspired and successful composition building on existing ideas and expanding them. What a composition
Great work
Cheers
Michael

PS I am also a fan of Streletz figures - many of them have them own a character allowing to build such expressive compositions. The lack of finer precision of these real scale sculpted figures was never a barrier to me - and they have improved a lot as you finely show
