Empress Catherine the 1st...

Posted by Marvin on 27 Feb 2020, 22:48

Been creating a scene for something called FEMbruary - an annual event to celebrate and showcase some realistic female miniatures in the hobby.

These figures are from Strelets good old box of "Court and Army of Peter the Great". It contains Peter the Great himself but also some ladies of his court including his wife, Empress Catherine which I thought I'd use for my submission. Using these ladies, I created this scene where the Empress greets a returning general in the garden of a St Petersburg palace...

There's a lady with a fan observing the meeting:

Another is more interested in petting her small dog:

Some Guards watch the scene, standing next to a statue from Strelets' Roman Senate set:

All good fun! Cheers

The figures themselves and the whole scene look very good; great paintjob!
And I also like the idea of FEMbruary. There is really a need for female figures in our hobby (and for civilians in general).

You know, I just knew the scene needed something extra but I couldn't put my finger on it... ;-)
