AWI troops

Posted by lobo on 28 May 2019, 13:08

Hello everyone,
As I have said in my presentation, after many years doing practically nothing (in the hobby¡), I have begun a project about the AWI; I will try to build an English and an American Army, and the scenography to play with the Black Powder ruleset.
I´m doing a blog with my progress…

These look lovely.

Not my period but they seem to ooze history.

Keep up the good work.

Best wishes,

Chris

wowww, very good conversions CPN¡
but I only can see the pics in a very small size; i´m going to became member of the hat fórum for seeing them better..
I think the conversión stage its very creative; I have the figures in my head all day, thinking how to exchange their heads, arms...

I like your painting technique, especially the shading and the matt finish. Keep up the great work, Lobo! :yeah:

The painting and shading are very good, and I like the way you've mixed up the figures to get some variety in the officers.

The American Militia figures look terrific, a very nice mix of authentic looking colours.

Thank you very much for your comments;
The poses of the two set are very limited, and the range of the Revell seven Years War are too large; so I have to do a lot of conversions; the set of American pilgrims of Imex, with some modifications is a good source for the American Militia.
Your comments encourage me to continue¡
Antonio.

I remember a time when the only figures we had was Airfix and the only paint we had was colour pencils. I think it was mid 70s. Still have some of the grenadiers (maybe some went to Jan, repainted).

The pose of the group of two men evacuating a casualty is memorable…sometimes I think about buying the Americans only for this pose; with new legs, I think they will work well…

Hello Again¡
I have completed another British Regiment; this time with yellow as facing color.
I have used only one type of figure. Painting them I have discovered that washing and highlighting the white color is more difficult ...how do you do it?

@Susofrick- That brings back some good memories, back in late 90's and early 2000's when only soldiers there were were ordinary plastic soldiers and when only paint was mom's fingernail paint or grandad's paint for boat...
@Lobo-Great done with figures.

Lobo, an excellent job you have made of these figures. Those Accurate/Revell British infantry you have painted are still my favourite set by any manufacturer and you have done a superb job bringing them to life. I look forward to following more of your contributions on here!

Thank you very much Rich. You are right about those sets; both sets, English and American have a perfect proportion, the variety of clothes of the Americans…I only used to paint WWII troops, but those sets attracted my attention; it´s a pity that those manufacturers didn´t continue this period with granadiers, light infantry, hessians…Figures from other manufacturers, or compatible periods are either bigger or smaller.
I sincerely appreciate your opinion about my work…yesterday I was painted and the result wasn´t very good, your opinion encourage me to continue trying¡

British Regiment (green)

Hello Again¡
This time another British Regiment; this time with green as facing color.
I have used some different poses of figures for this unit,...

- I don´t know if the result is better than repeating only a limited amount of poses…what do you think?
