Swiss 4th Infantry Regiment

Posted by Bill Slavin on 01 Feb 2019, 03:22

Coming off painting a stack of British, I wasn't able to stop painting red coats!

The 4th Swiss fought for the French in both the Peninsula and Russia - these were painted up for a refight of the Battle of Roliça in Portugal in 1808, Wellington's first engagement in Portugal.

I have a bit of background here on my blog https://tinywarsplayedindoors.blogspot.com/2019/01/red-coated-french-swiss-4th-infantry.html Figures are the HaT French Line Infantry.

Command was requested they be allowed to wear their greatcoats. Of course this was denied as the order of the day was no greatcoats. The French fired on them as they looked like British. (Aren't Commands wonderful) ;-)

Much like when the French fired on the Saxons because they wore white(ish) like the Austrians. The French officers were shocked when the Saxons fired back :-D :yeah:
