This is amazing!

I didn't know there were so many siege weapon options from Airfix.

I'm specially interested in the large catapults there. I wonder if such kits can still be found in stores.

Fantastic stuff Paul.

I am sure many a lord or King would have gone week at the knees if the prospect of commanding that lot was on offer.

Best wishes,

Chris

Oooo, I do like those! Really nice iron effects on your bombards. You need about 20 more guys on stretchers though if you want a full crew for the early cannons...

I agree with everybody. If Paul didn't build the catapults by himself he bought them from Conny at http://www.fredericus-rex.eu/

The only stuff from Airfix is a couple of converted bods, the machines/guns are from Fredericus-Rex, Zvezda, Miniart, Strelets, RedBox, Mars, UltimaRatio, Valdemar, LW, Orion, Tumbling Dice and a couple of scratch builds.
The three trebuchets are from left to right, made by MiniArt, Fredericus-rex and Zvezda. The Miniart and Zvezda ones are quite hard to find but the Fredericus-rex (the better of the three by a Long way)one is still available

Paul, I see on the link to Fredericus Rex that the trebuchet model is "resin/wood/paper".

I purchased a couple kits from them before, and was disapointed on the frailty of the material. There were walls on some house kits made of paper, and what was supposed to be mdf was actually something like a cardboard.

What's your view on the durability of the trebuchet kit? What exactly is paper on it? And what they mention as "wood" is actual mdf, or that carboard stuff?

The paper in the kit makes up the metal straps and, as far as I remember, some of the cog wheels. The the sling is resin..and the Wood, Balsa.
Compared to the other two kits, which are hard plastic, it isn´t as durable but as it is, durable. My Version is now 6 years old and it´s been knocked about a bit and no damage yet.

I did a sort of Review on the kit HERE

Awesome collection of siege equipment and machines. Love the firing cannon effect. Any lord seeing this outside his castle should worry!
