Strelets WWI Serbian Infantry in Winter Dress

Posted by Marvin on 06 Feb 2018, 21:54

What's this? No Nappies? No horses? 20th century figures!? :eh:

Must be a mid-life crisis...

Rather impressive figures from Strelets in their new slimline style. An overlooked country in WWI figures, so well done to Strelets for producing a set like this. I'd like a little more detail on the faces to paint, but otherwise they're quite impressive.

I've painted 1914-15 infantry using the figures that are wearing the traditional Serbian šajkača hat. There are about another 12 more awaiting some paint wearing the French Adrian helmets. These I will paint in an allied army uniform as therefore 1916-18 era figures.

My old blog has been waffling on about all things Serbian of late:
Uniforms and history - https://suburbanmilitarism.wordpress.com/2018/01/28/soldiers-of-serbia/
Also more pics / comments of the finished set - https://suburbanmilitarism.wordpress.com/2018/02/04/early-wwi-serbian-infantry-1914-15/

Cheers - Marvin

Fantastic painting. You have really brought these guys to life. The new Stetlets style is most welcome and some of the forthcoming new releases look even better.

Best wishes,

Chris

Great looking figures. You did fine job Marvin. You could send Strelets pictures so they can post it.

When I saw the title I thought of terrible HaT figures. But I know you would paint nicely even them.
You did good job as usual. I like snowy bases as well.

Thanks! Strelets are a definite improvement on that old Hat set for sure. :-)

Thanks for the infos, Marvin. As always I like your brushwork but because I have no idea about the Serbian army it is interesting to learn about as well. For me the most interesting figure in this set is the Strelets Special Figure. ;-)
