British Camel Corps.

Posted by Santi Pérez on 17 Nov 2017, 20:54

While finishing my diorama "Gordon meets the Mahdi" (I have already the painted figures and hope to post pictures of them in the next days), I bring here another related colonial subject: the British Camel Corps.

These members of the Gordon relief expedition are made by Hät Miniatures and I painted them some years ago. The only conversions are the reins added to the camels (made from plasticine hardened with white wood glue) and the rifle glued to one saddle, coming from Esci/Italeri British Colonial Infantry.

Firstly the general pictures. I hope you like them. :-D

Which of the two must I notice?

Anyway, these are the only camels I have painted in forty years dedicated to te hobby. Oh, I forgot...there's a new camel in the diorama I'm finishing (sorry, Wiking :P ).

Looking good, Santi. Very neat and clean. I'm getting thirsty just looking at them. I've painted plenty of horses before, but no camels. Seeing these, I'm tempted to switch mounts.

Good work santi, maybe you could look for depth with dark washings to emphasize a little the volume.

Thanks for your suggestion, BB, but don't you think that they are better intended maybe for the battle of Abu Klea? ;-)

Thank you very much, dear friends. :-D I take in consideration your advice, tocayo, but I'm not very skilful using washings. I tried some years ago and returned to my old style due to the bad results obtained. :(

Santi...the new one (compared to Santi the veteran).
