Swiss "Gewalthaufen"

Posted by Konrad on 27 Oct 2017, 16:21

FRANK ZIEGLER MINIATURES

A "Gewalthaufen" is the main formation of the quarter, from the Middle Ages to the early modern times in Europe, the most efficient and widely used massive battle system. Other components of the quarter were the vanguard and rearguard.

The word "Gewalthaufen" is not so easy to translete.

Hope you enjoy!

Dear Konrad,

That is a fine choice you made to buy and paint these pikemen made by Frankzett.
He sculpted them fine and I love to see your painting work, the wide variation of colors and the way you grouped them. Well done, well done.

Will we see you at Crisis?

Regards from Mr. Cryns

When I saw these figures of Frank Ziegler the first time,
I was absolutly sure that with a corresponding painting of the "Swiss Gewalthaufen"
something very great could be represented.
And that's exactly what you did. You've understood to implement this masterfully.
Chapeau ... a excellent job and really awesome.

The Ziegler figures are wonderful realistic, but your painting is even more impressive.

No literal Translation. Gewalthaufen = Pikeblock / Group of soldiers /paramilitary arranged in a right angled block having roughly the same depth as width
