Ancient Atlantic Egyptians

Posted by Santi Pérez on 20 Sep 2017, 20:00

Due to the nostalgic success obtained with the post of my diorama including some old Atlantic figures, I post now some more figures from the same manufacturer, painted only a few years after the making of the diorama. ;-)

I hope to increase the good memories of all of you who owned and played with these figures many years ago, watching the following pictures. :-)

Firstly the figures in their original orange colour:

And here all of them painted, front and back:

To be continued... (in the next post detailed pictures of every figure).

Thanks for watching.

O`,Yes please Sante, do continue down this ancient avenue of painting these early Atlantic figures.
It is certainly great to see them presented in this way. It is a real pleasure to view. BB

It's the time for some detailed pictures of these oldies and a new dose of nostalgia. ;-)

Don't forget that they are more than thirty years old. I painted them when I was a beginner in this hobby, so excuse the quality of the paint job.

These figures were originally intended to be the crew of an Egyptian ship for a huge diorama where they would fight a Roman trireme with Airfix and Atlantic Romans. I built both ships with toothpicks and painted also some Romans. However, some problems of space at home forced me to leave definitively the project. I made a naval battle in the terrace between both ships with painted and unpainted Romans as crew, and ships and crews were consumed by the fire. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera and couldn't take pictures of that epic battle. :(

Thankfully I could save and preserve up to today the painted Egyptians. :-)

I agree totally, huib, but in those distant times my palette of colours was much more limited than today. ;-)

Be sure, Fred. That's the reason of why I never bet...because I always lose. :(

Some more of these Atlantic oldies:

And these are the last Egyptians, together with the bonuses (I'm sorry, BB, none of them is a tiny quiver :P ).

Actually the bonuses are the rest of the figures from the other two Atlantic sets (At the Pharaoh's Court and Egyptian Cavalry/Chariots, all unpainted, I never had enough time to paint them :( ) and a painted sarcophagus with mummy inside.

Don't forget that I painted all these figures approximately 35 years ago, when I had spent only a few years in the hobby.

Thank you for watching. I'm happy knowing that I've brought to some of you good memories from happy past times.

I decrypt the red and black painted hieroglyphics at the sarcophagus.
It means:

No step. Do not touch. No Kinder Surprise.
I am older as Peter. Not suited for children under 14 years.
Made in China.

For me there are no childhood memories attached to these figures since I never bought them, nor even saw them. This is a first for me and I love it!

   I thought noone could be older than Peter with all his monthly birthdays. Bah, you'll never know. :-D

Thank you, Peter, Beano Boy and Susofrick. From my younger times I have always tried to do everything the best I can, including of course my main hobby. I have dedicated so many attention to the small details that now I have my sight exhausted. :(

Good work, Wiking, you have won the prize! Which prize? Hum, I don't know, ask Peter, he's the oldest member in the forum, isn't he?

By the way, bear in mind that I'm 55. Any possibility to get the dubious honor of being among the oldest ones?

Best regards.
