MIG 19 / ZTS Plastyk / 1:72

Mig 19, my last plastic model in 1:72 scale. Building was not very difficult. I didn´t use nothing else, just parts from original box.
I thing it doesn´t look very good. I just try few new technics and this is what happend... I thing that colours and shades are not good. Also wheathering was just experiment. So... see picture.

I like it. That looks like it took a bit of work! How long from the time you opened the box until you took these pics?

It is unbelievable what people forced us to look at.
A very old worn out, heavy dirty MIG 19. Daubed with oil overall.
The pilot should throw away the scratched cabin glasses and use instead his good old googles.
I would not be surprise if this bird is now flight by rope (hope?) and not more by wire.
The knowledge of your technical and cleaning stuff is - improvable.




The only thing I know to add is to flat two tire.

I like the ageing as well.
Besides, I was wondering whether a MIG19 could age "in service". I think the average lifetime "in action" of such a combat airplane is a few days, no? Maybe it's a training plane or it has lived on an open airfield for some years.

I don´t know how long, but I thing it takes me 5 or 6 days from beginning to finish. Building was very easy.
And why so dirty and old... I thing Mig 19 was very long time in service in few contries. And there could be so many scratches and oil. I saw many picture to inspire, like this, just this are out of service.....

Wellllll.... it depends. If this should be a wreckage or something that stood unused behind a hangar for some years, the weathering is okay. If it should show us a plane in real use, the weathering is in my opinion much too much.

Yes, the pictures posted earlier show us some dirty, oily birds - but they seem to have been parked in this position for quite a long time. Planes that are kept in service, even for a long, long time, must be kept in the best shape possible if you want to keep them alive and kicking. I doubt that anyone would try to fly a plane that loses hydraulic oil at several spots of the hull...

Btw - Pakistan did not use the original MiG19, but the Chinese J-6 variant. Today, there are only a handful of them left for combat training purposes. Last list I've seen numbered 9 J-6 being still in service.

Bluefalchion hit the nail to my first post.

Tomkid wrote in his initial post that weathering was an EXPERIMENT.
I see this bird as now unused. So the oil is running from each opening down.
Maybe as a side note, it is important that all this oil lines run parallel down (see the side ruder).
Sometimes hard to achieve. Also the national markings are with scratches.
The exhaust inside look very good paint. A lot of flights are done.
From the several options of nations tomkid use the most interesting one for my taste.
For his color and shades it is in my opinion always for each model an unknown factor how it comes finally out.

For an experiment oob build I like it. I have seen in these forum far more poorly done models. Including some of mine.

And I learned the existence of ZTS Plastyk.
