Usborne Roman Fort HO/OO 1/72 compatible

Posted by Xantippos on 04 Aug 2017, 16:27

I imagine a lot of people already know of this paper models, but just in case, I wanted to share my last creation. They are really wonderful for wargaming, the roman fort might be slightly on the small side, as it is a sort of HO/OO as the train model making understand (smaller than 1/76) but it still looks quite good. Other models in the same collection were indeed 1/76 and are even more useful.

Quite lenghthy to build, but still worth it.

My father build it 20 years ago, but sadly it had to be left behind in a house moving.

It looks very nice. I had a number of paper models when I was younger, but they never came out that neat. Perhaps it was a lack of patience ...
And it is quite realistic, too, I would say. Do you know if there was a particular real fort (or excavation site, resp.) used as template?
But as you said, it is a bit on the small side. No, to be honest, it is very small - I would think about 1/150 scale.

Nice to read your post. I have collected nearly all the USBORNE and DOVER Paperbooks on historical topics. There are also set useful for the ACW. And btw.: if you look on the prices for some books at amazon. You will hold them and sell them in ten years. It seems that you can stop working after the deal. 8)

Have some of the books, but just built a couple of Wild West buildings. I think HO/OO is something like 1/87. Have used some such figures together with 1/72 and 1/76 and I even won a duel with it.
