I refuse to mention the purple on the centurions cloak. Nope, I'm just not saying it.

Great work Tone,

Just as your other recent entry (north African light troops)
Your choice of three repeating colors for those shields reminds me of the old work of Peter Connolly depicting republican Romans. Is that correct, or what was your source?

I hope the renovation of your top floor went well.

Thank you all for the comments! Mr. Cryns you are spot on I was inspired by Peter Connolly's "Greece and Rome at War" I liked the mixed up shield colours and most of my Carthaginians have a uniformed colour so it is to provide a contrast to that army also.

The work upstairs went well thank you, I now don't have much excuse to not get any models painted.

Really nice painting on these figures. The armour looks good and the faces are terrific. They look great in formation, I doubt the enemy will want to close with them.

I would agree that it's not Tyrian purple. That's probably a colour that people in Britain generally, and Villa and Hammers fans in particular, might call 'Claret'

But for anyone who grew up in Britain that's 'Royal Purple':

Yeah, that's right. The Queen calls it 'purple', and her army's bigger than yours. :)
