WW2 - Sd.Kfz. 222 in “ ... long way from home“ - DE

New diorama pictures …

„a long long way from home“

In the middle of the desert.

Peter: Klaus, how far is it to the nearest garage?

Klaus: At the next palm right and then 350 km straight ahead. By the way, you have to push now. I had done it the last time ...

Peter: For real? If it has to be then .... :( 'Lonesome cowboy, lonesome cowboy, you' re a long way from home. Lonesome cowboy, lonesome cowboy, you have a long long way to roam .. .. to push'

Have fun. :-D

Your Hellboy

Typical Hellboy Dio.
Introduction first.
Clear, colorful. Few figure and the dromedary are well paint. Bits and bobs surrounded the scene.
Great b/w pic!
A nice way of presentation and modelling. :yeah:

What I like is that all four wheels touch the ground. And that is sometimes not so easy to achieve.
Only the mounting of the mesh on top is an alternative fact. ;-)

Peter and Klaus are not in a hurry.
Looks like each is thinking: "The leader is far away and Rommel is a nice man".

Klaus speak: ... you (Peter) have to push now.

Push Peter! Push!

First of all thanks for the Likes. Wiking, thank you for your nice comment. :-D

I can tell you, the two guys are doing pretty well. They stopped pushing. Right now they are watching some of my DVDs, drinking my beer and eating hot sausages. And I have to go to work .... Life is bitter! :(

I like the detail of the flag, with the map and the cork helmet . How did you made the flag?.

Exellent work on the dio and well thought out. However, some items are too clean for my taste, like the trunk of the palmtree and the equipment on the sand and the shoes of the crew. It might be a good idea to use pigment here, to add realism. But over all, a nice scene.

Peter and Klaus both got lines in this scene but not the camel. I think that will upset it and it will take the hump.

There's some really interesting dioramas on this forum.

Thank you for the further kind comments. I am very happy about it!

Carlos, I am very happy that you like the diorama. :-D To your question. The flag is made of thin lead foil. The lead foil can be folded beautifully and then adapted to the ground. Almost like a real flag made of cloth. Afterwards priming, painting ... finished! And you can not just make flags out of it. Tarpaulins, packages, tents ... whatever. Give it a shot. That's fun!

mickey mouse, thank you for the note with the pigments. :yeah: It really all looks a bit too clean. I think I do it. I'm already looking forward to the result. :-D

FredG, the camel makes off quickly. It does not want to be strained before the vehicle to tow it. Up and away ... ;-)
You are right, the forum offers so many different great dioramas. But also vehicles, figures and so on. Everything exciting! Always an inspiration! I love it!

Great diorama....well painted and composed.
Your style of painting is very clean. Have you ever tried a dark wash?....it would make the recesses more pronounced.
Keep having fun. Bill.

Bill, thank you for your kind comment. :-D
To your question because of the dark wash. I tried it once. It went totally wrong. I had no real control. In the end everything was dark .... too dark. :( Unclear what I did wrong?
I paint vehicles completely in oil paints. Usually 5 different colors. 1 color for the base, 2 colors for light and 2 colors for shade. Usually the detail will be nicely displayed. However, I have not succeeded in this vehicle. I can see it.
In the colors 'Panzergrau' and 'Panzergrün' it succeeds quite well. But with 'Panzergelb' I have to try a lot. Everything needs it's time.
