Clash in the Middle East, XII century AD

Posted by PhilC on 12 Mar 2017, 07:55

Hi everyone.

From time to time, I add a few soldiers to my XIIth century armies, Crusaders and Ayyubids in this case. I felt in the mood to paint horses  - not an easy exercise, that's why I admire people who can paint complete regiments.

Here you are the result: Templar knights, in a clash with Ayyubid ghulams.

The Templars by Italeri - I find them more interesting to paint when not completely white

The Ghulams by Italeri, Strelets and Caesar - I think the different references fit well together

Great paintjob, lively colors but not unrealistically bright!

Wonderful riders on both sides. My favorite is the jumping horse- fantastic paintjob on the caparison.

Great job of painting, mate!
The horses dress are beautifull! (I don't know how tell that word exactly)
Painting thoses clothes is more dificult to paint than the horse skin, in my opinion.
The red crosses good make too.
About your horses, they are very nice too. However, I have two recommendations very easy to make, if you may to permitted me.
The horse socks are too regulars, if you paint them less regulars, it will be more realistic.
The horses skin are very good, only a little detail : A final light for enhance your magnific job.

Finally, I tell you that I hope to see more your jobs in the forum :-D :yeah:

Thank you all!

Dear Mr Lacc, I will follow your advice and add more light to the horses robes. And also paint not so regular socks. Thank you for your help :-)

Hi everyone! I painted some other minis for my Crusaders army: knights and foot soldiers.

The knights by Italeri (together with a Strelets Turcopole):

Wow those horsemen are extremely well painted by you! Well done.
There is a lot of beauty in your painting style:
Nice bright colors, very clear neat detail and a personal touch in the way you use the brush. I love it.
