Hello everyone,

After Vietnam, here I’m starting a new modern subject.

Never thought it could ever happen (there was a time, not so long ago, when I considered WWII too modern for my tastes… ) but I’d changed mind after falling in love with some wonderful under fire metal figures.

Once involved in this era, from 60’s to 80’s, I decided to go for it and I’m seriously thinking on adding some helicopters when painting their Russian foes.

Ultima Ratio and Caesar (plastic) and Under Fire (metal) figures.

The weapons may be modern, but the garb (clothes, costumes, garments, headwear) would be right at home in 1870! So your style works for these figs to fantastic affect. Thanks for posting.

I did not know the figures of 'Under Fire'. Have just the web page visited by 'Under Fire Miniatures'. The figures are all really great. The 'Afghan Taliban' I need for a private small project. Thanks for your note. In this way, I have again learned anything!

I'm quite sensible with that theme.

You could as well add a us Green Berets team or mercenaries.

I heard there were some Polish fighters who fought with the Afghans because they hate the Soviets.

I'm as well really interessted on what figures you'll choose for the soviets.

SKORRA, I’ve not think about adding some foreign advisors to the Mujahideen, but maybe not a bad idea. If so, I’ve to look for the right figures first…

For the Russians, I’m going a mix the old Esci Spetsnaz, Warsaw Pact troops, Ultima Ratio Soviet Motorized Infantry & Spetsnaz and Zvezda Motorized Troops. I know they are a strange mixture (the Zvezda a little too modern, the Warsaw pact not Russian…) but nothing that the painting can’t disguise (except for the RDA figures with their distinctive helmets that must be left aside or changed…). Moreover, if you look at the existing pictures, the lack of respect for military dress code regulations seems it was the norm of the Russian soldiers serving in Afghanistan…
