Italian Wars by Sowabud

Posted by sowabud on 22 Mar 2016, 20:43

I decided to rebase my old figures dedicated to Great Italian Wars to Impetus bases. Big bases are much more practical and especially pike block looks better. These figures are from MiniArt Swiss pike set I painted about 8 years ago. Thanks to Red Box I will have a chanse to have all missing figs, like Stradioti or Italian foot. I hope you will like my pikes too.

Yes, the pikes are original. They were divided into two pieces - short one with the body and the long one separately. I joint them together by welding the end of the long piece over the flame of a candle. That's why sometimes you see something like small discs at the joint.

I have this kit, have taken it out of the box several times, considered how I would paint and base them and returned it to the box every time. Great Job with yours!

Dear Sowabud,

I do not only like painting and basing of both of these units, I do like the clear and bright photographing of the cavalry a lot too.

A great display of charging Knights, suported well by the two ranks of noisy mean prickly infantry.
Those guys wielding those `Great Swords` well needed the extra space. I bet troops on both sides were highly expert at tripping over the lopped off heads everywhere.
Splendid painting result. BB

It is time to show the rest of my swiss pike. Like the previous, most of the figures on the first tow stands are from miniart. The third one is contains most of Red Box figures. So the core of the swiss army is finished. More pics on the blog

As Oli wrote on my blog, you can never have too many gendarmes! So I continue to rebase my armies to Impetus bases. The second stand of gendarmes is just finished. I also took a family photo with the bases I have recently finished.
