I was inspired by this picture and went about doing some minor additions to a Matchbox Para.

It's been almost 27 years now since the Falklands War.

Cool! I can't help imagining if you've got some a whole Falkland War project in going... :P

One day maybe. Right now I just have a single figure of each pose painted.

For me the Paras are one of Matchbox´ best sets (along with the Japs and Anzac).

Very inspiring work. I have to paint some of these guys by myself somewhere in the near future.

Very nicely painted, and such an eye catching image also, perhaps the most famous photo from that entire almost forgotten war. It really tells the hardship the soldiers went through, walking down the froozen muddy path through the tundra. Nice job

Thanks for the nice comments. Now that I am back to work, I can use the colour printer to do a proper flag. My hand drawn effort looks a bit rubbish I think.

Hey Chris, nice work  . Let that flag be. I find it much better for this figure handpainted as with a paper decal.

Greetings Peter

Hi Chris,
Do the records mention who the man is on the picture with the flag?
Should be nice to know his name.

Yes they do. I will have to look it up though. Apparently he was forced to sell his medals some years after the war due to financial circumstances. :(

Hi Chris,
The man probably don't know that he is now immortalized as a plastic figure in Auckland NZ !!!

Found it. His name is Peter Robinson. Apparently he now manages a fitted kitchen and bathroom shop.

EDIT: By the way, this is where I got my inspiration from. http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=107232
