A short disjointed battle report from the Seven Years War Association convention that took place on the first weekend in April in South Bend Indiana here in the midwest of the USA. The con was a bit short on games so I stepped forward and threw together a quick game for the first gaming session on Thursday evening. Unknown to me two additional Zorndorf games were run during the convention!!
So I decided to use my adaption of some ancient rules Armati which came out in the mid 1990's. It worked okay needs some refinement for sure.
So the first few shots show deployment behind the foam core screen.
Prussian ssetting up with the village burning in the background

The Russian lines were set up in there historical set up. The Prussians did not know this.

Russian commanders having a good think!

Alcohol may have attributed to a Prussian set up slip up!

Russian left wing cavalry deployed behind the hill.

Game on!

The Prussians decided to concentrate their artillery fire on the Russian guns. The Russians chose to blast Prussian infantry.

Russian left flank cavalry line up for what turned out to be a indecisive melee.

Showdown!

Closing in.

Burn baby burn!

Fight on the Russian right flank.

The cavalry melee continues on the Russian left flank.

The Prussian final assault on the Russian left center.

At this point the game ended with the Prussians losing 9 infantry stands to the Russians one which caused the Prussian army to with draw. The Prussians did manage to eliminate all of the Russian artillery but they did not count towards victory conditions only the infantry units did.
It was fun game lasted less than two hours but it needs some work.
Thanks for looking!
