DBA battle (quick) report: Syracuse vs Carthage

Posted by Mr. Andrea on 26 May 2019, 15:50

Carthage landed in Sicily and taught the islanders a great lesson. In the centre of the battlefield, the spears of Dido's sons stalled the Sicilian hoplites using no weapons (it is still not clear what they had shouted at them to stop their advance: maybe secrets on the real job of the hoplites' mothers?). The fight developed on the sea shore where units of both forces landed attempting to outflank the enemy. Too bad for the Syracusans whose cavalry was wiped out by the Carthage's cavalrymen; their psiloi suffered a similar destiny: chased and slaughtered in the wood by Carthage's auxilia. Panic spread in the Sicilian ranks and the Carthaginian light horses rushed and took the enemy camp undisturbed. Andrea's Carthaginians (II/32a) defeated Jan's Syracusans (II/9a) 4 to 1.
