In a game based on the southern flank of the Borodino battlefield, I fought a battle at our club with a lot of the figures I've been painting up over the last year. I took the part the Poles played in the real battle with only a selection of the figures I've been painting for IV Corps.
The aim was to dislodge the Russians from their position so that the southern flank of the whole army would would become exposed. I first had to clear the village in the centre, then attack the Russian position. Clearing the village was a bruising affair, but I managed it. After a careless mistake caused some rough handling by Cossacks, I massed for an attack on the Russian's left wing, but before I could launch it, the Russians had broken my left!
