Game set up:

Dutch (NDVN) and US rearguard have to hold of a major attack.
Game starts in the night, with a maximum of 1 occupied hil by the US/ NDVN as advanced post.
Goal US/ NDVN is to keep the route free of Chinese direct fire within 16 turns (6 night and 10 day).
Chinese must prevent this and destroy more than 50% of the rear guard.

Both side have one tank.
US and NDVN have 3 pre planned 155mm fires and 6x 105mm on call fires.
Also 3x 60mm and 1x 81mm mortar.
Chinese have 6 artillery fires on request.
Also 2x 81 mortars.

Turn 1-5 (night)

The lead units of the Chinese column is a battalion from the NKPA with one tank as shock troops.
On turn 2, the NDVN fires successfully a illumination round and opens fire with the .50, causing the first casualties.
The reaction of the commander is to open an attack on the post with 75% of his forces, the rest have to remove obstacles on the road.
The NDVN put up a fierce fight and only by a close assault by the Chinese, driven from their positions.
Loosing the .50, the fall back to the river, pursued by a lone tank.

Turn 6 and 7

The Chinese are now on the road, moving an mass towards the river. The NKPA is already near the bridge, again cutting through wire obstacles.

The tank is still pursuing the NDVN, but finds itself in trouble. Near misses of mortar rounds, it waits for infantry (never to come).

The first wounded arrive at the field dressing station

Turn 8 to 12

Image
Heavy fighting near the bridge, after the spearhead of the Chinese column arrives.

Image
However this triggers the OP of the US, to start the pre planned fires.
This destroys the bridge and kills a lot of Chinese.

Image
One group is pushing forward, to be stopped by the US tank and a infantry company.

Image
On the right side of the US/ NDVN front, the NDVN unit escapes from the tank, which destroys a jeep.

Image
After being engaged by 2 failed bazooka rounds and a 155mm fire, it decides it’s better to seek the shelter of some infantry and heads towards the bridge.

Image
At the bridge the Chinese try to storm the US tank and it's support, heavely beeing engaged by all sorts of weapons.

turn 13 and 14
Image
Finaly the US infantry has to give ground an the tank stays to hold the advance of the Chinese as long as possible.

Image
Image
This is as long as possible....the T34 arrives and observes the rounds of the US tank.
Firing a single shot.....and the US tank is no more.

Image
But this is not what the Chines hoped for.....caught in a artillery and mortar fire and hold up by wire....after this, the MMG joins...

Turn 15 and 16

Image

Counter fire and new troops try to break through, but are stopped by a charge of a combines US/ Dutch compagny.
But the fires cause havoc and the charge is also countered.

Image
Even a final artillery fire on the NDVN hill positions is not enough....the route stays open...just long enough
