Us marines are sent in to secure the Airfield while SAS attempt a rescue.
05.00Z US fleet aircraft attack k8 destroying the armoured support on the base
With this suddern air attack government regulars rush to the defence of the airfield perimeter.
Major Boris Skipski the experienced ex- Spetznas officer who commands the advisor group is not convinced that all is as it seems and cannot believe that the Americans would be foolish enough to attempt a resucue with a all out conventional assault. So he orders his men to stand to near the terminal building where the PDA are holding the hostages.
Soon afterwards the ADF start taking fire from the thick jungle around the airfield.
At 04.00Z US marines under the command of Colonel Cyc landed on the beach some 10km fron the airfield. Their orders are to assault the airfield and occupy the ADF troops. While a helicopter painted to resemble a Ameristan airforce aircraft lands with Brisish SAS troops disguised as Ameristani presidential guards to effect a hostage rescue.
Turn one begins with the marines having to debus from their vehicles as the jungle terrain proves impassible. the firefight begins with casaulties on both sides.
Colonel Cyc tries to call in a mortar barrage but fails to get trough
At the end of turn one the marines contact the Sas rescue team confirming that contact has been made and to proceed with landing.
Overhead suddenly appears a Ameristani Kamanov assaut heli. Which proceeds to make a approach and land near the terminal.
In the mean time the marines are doing a great job pinning down the regular troops causing some casualties with a rather effective mortar barrage.
Major Skipski orders his Advisor group to withdraw to the terminal building to support the PDA guerillas as he is still not sure everthing is as it seems.
Turn 3 sees the firefight intensify on the perimeter with Marines taking heavy and accurate fire from the defenders
SAS Red and Blue teams make straight for the terminal
Skip rolls to see if he can spot that they are not who they appear to be.
Blue team make it to the building but red team give themselves away and PDA and the advisors open fire on them causing casulties to red team.
Turn 4 sees the marines still engaging and causing heavy casulties with mortar and small arms to the ADF.
Blue team attempt to close assault the terminal but with red team out of action they are decimated by extremely effective fire from the advisor group.
The game ends with the gamble not paying off the Marines have secured the perimiter with most ADF units hit hard but the rescue team is wiped out thus giving Skip a victory.
There are a few things we would have changed but overall the game went well .Skip rolled well to spot the SAS team. And pulling back his experienced advisor team was a great move as it meant he was able to contain the rescue attempt.
Great game I really enjoyed it. Thanks to Skip and Cyc for giving me the chance to prepare the scenario. :thumbsup:
