Large Army Rules

Posted by ironbrigadier on 23 Nov 2010, 23:58

I finally convinced a few friends to join me in historical wargaming. The only way to pull this off was to show them Irregular Miniatures 6mm (I would prefer 20mm but I am the only one with a job) Army Packs that are fairly cheap. We still haven't decided on a time period. I am wondering about rules for: Ancient/Medieval periods, 1700's, Napoleonics, and WWII for armies that will be rather large in terms of the number of figures. I want to find the period that would be the most fun to play...basically rules that aren't terribly complex, that are fairly fast (4 hours to play), and accomodate large armies.

That is certainly a tough question, for ACW and napoleonics rules that are fast to learn and play pretty fast I would go with Fire and Fury and Age of Eagles you can see them here:
http://www.fireandfury.com/#. There are also rules at the Baccus 6mm site but I am not to familiar with them. This site : http://www.juniorgeneral.org/index.html, gives a lot of info on many periods that you can expand on in scale. I hope that helps get you started and remember its to be fun! :-D

Thanks for the tips. I think I will end up splicing some rules together and seeing what happens.
