Here is my campaign board for Arnhem 44. I will be also reworking some terrain into a 2' X 2' diorama/war game using Shep Paine's Tips on building dioramas by Monogram Ostwind IV.

The map seems OK with me.
I've got a shelf of books here on the subject "Arnhem 1944"
After Waterloo this is my second interest.
I have visited the Airbone Museum in Oosterbeek several times.
A lot of original buildings are still there.

Nice work so far and I'll be following this one. Market Garden is of particular interest to me. My dad's side of the family lived through it in Beek-Ubbergen, right outside of Nijmegen. There are still some trees there that have bullets in them from Sept. 1944. My grandparents house used to be about 100 yards from the border with Germany...

BTW, I met an old 101st AB paratrooper here about 3 years ago at a July 4th parade who jumped in Market Garden and helped liberated Eindhoven, where I was born. He had some funny stories to tell about cracking safes to look for cigars and liquor

Hey Martin I look forward to it.....Dutch Boy I used to work with a guy who said when the invasion started a 500 pounder dropped beside the railway tracks where he lived and knocked every dish off of the shelf in his house but never really damaged his dwelling. He has nightmares of all of the bombs that were dropped.

For what building(s) are you looking for Jeff?

I am looking for the style of architecture mainly, as I will leave the roof sections partially blown off so I can war game on the diorama. I want the buildings to be fairly accurate for the period, style, and location!

Yes the are, in the first picture you see the big white house "Hartenstein", used as an military hospital. Best way is to watch the movie "Bridge to far" to get a good impression (even when the bridge was taped in a place called Deventer, but looks the same)

Hey Chasseur nice map but....

I noticed that you have made a remark at the Arnhem Road Bridge which states a reference to the "North Side" of the bridge. Seeing your map I think that you put the reference across the water due to space limitations ? Because the remark is actually placed on the South side of the bridge. Just nitpicking were it is probably not necessary.

I noticed telephone lines, but how about street lamps? Did they use lanterns attached to their homes as modelled in some of the resin kits available on the market?
