General Wargaming

Tarhunna has spoken

Being a local show holiday, we were able to get a Bronze Age wargame in - Hittites facing a coalition of Mycenaean & Sea Peoples.
The game used 'Hail Caesar' rules with 3 divisions a side of plastic 1/72 & metal 20mm figures.

We decided a 10 turn game in which you had to either break your enemy's army or, alternately, take & hold their camp/base and/or an important local shrine to the god, Tarhunna.

What an exciting game! Right up to the last turn it could have gone either way.
The key is of course the chariot units:

But archer, spearmen & even skirmish units played their part. One unit of lowly slingers held up the elite Hittite heavy chariots for the entire game:

In the end, on nearly the final dice rolls, the centre Hittite division crumbled & gave possession of the shrine to their Mycenaean enemies.

A special shout-out goes to the Sea Peoples who failed 8 out of 10 initial activation rolls. Damned pirates.
