Down with the King!

Since meeting at Waterloo 2015 I have drawn great pleasure in meeting up with my friend Peter to chat about our hobby and ' play' with his enormous collection of troops from all eras.

A few days ago we met up and had a thoroughly enjoyable battle set in the early Medieval period. I was the usurper an d Peter was the king. What a change from Ligny.

Having just plowed through two Uthread novels I was up their in the shield wall!

By a twist of luck we won and the King is on the run. Result!

The real reason for this post is to show off Peters troops. His aim is that they look good from four feet away. As you can see they look good four inches away.

As you can see they look good four inches away.

Yes they do. Very nice naturalistic painting style.

The mail coats look good but I particularly like the unarmoured figures and the ones in quilted jerkins. Just the right amount of shading and highlighting, the faces are well defined and the mix of figures on the stands gives them a real dynamism.

I'm working my way through Uhtred's tales too and I love the pics of the shield wall attacking up the hill.
