Here they are.

The town of Hamelin, situated on a crossroads, is held by the French.....but not if Frederick's Prussians have anything to say about it

Image
A nearby fortress is held by their Austrian allies, ordered to hold & not sally to help their French friends

Prussian artillery unlimbers

Prussian cavalry & infantry shake out to battle order

The French, in prepared positions, await

Image
The town is held by two dismounted dragoon regiments

Image
The Prussians demonstrate on the French right

Image
Seeing the danger, the French rush troops to the town

Image
Too late, a crushing offensive begins to advance up the hill on the French left

The French, outnumbered & outmanoeuvred, await their doom

And how it was all done

Thanks Donald. Nice report, lots of great pictures, good figures and buildings. I think I even saw some Austrian Grenzers on 2nd photo. I only dislike that teddy fur grass but it seems it is good enough for wargaming.

Thanks for the kind comments.

You're not a wargamer, I believe? Re; the dreaded fur. We have to balance the look of the game with "playability". For example, I see absolutely fantastic dioramas here that aren't practical to game on (which of course is not their intention). The fur will allow figures to stand, is flexible when we change our battlefield and is durable: able to stand up to many, many games. And storage is folding it up & putting it in a small box.

The look? It's OK. A compromise. There are, of course, other wargamers' solutions to this problem but anything that looks like a diorama will probably be impossible to game on.

It all looks very good Donald. The teddy bear fur looks fine and the rest of the scenery and buildings are great, I like the roads and especially the river, that is thoroughly convincing. The fortress is excellent and the figures look fabulous.

I know you have been working on your SYW project for a while now so it's good to see you getting those figures on the table.

Thanks. The project is "finished" now.

Unless HaT or someone else makes new & tempting sets, there's no where else to go with it.
The obvious expansions are for the Prussians themselves with decent heavy cavalry & artillery sets & their non-French opponents.

Austrians & Russians in all 3 arms, would be a delight. Nothing much out there though.

This doesn't, of course, mean lots more exciting games.
