Fantastic we have a draw!
Mr X and Howlin (Jacob) did a duel with both the same amound of voters.

Nice work from both duelers this time. The natural background of the second figure looked very nice but I voted only for the best painted figure without regards to the beautiful scenery. In my judgment, the best painted figure was the one submitted by Mr. X!!

As usual a hard, but fun duel!

Nice! a tie, Both well done and on a such a simple mini is a good matter of subjective view of styles. Because this mini was so simple, and a a peasant, I wanted to do something I hadn't done before, which is painting the eyes. Which were tricky and I think too dark, so in the future will lighten those up.

Your picture is a tad blurry, but from what I can see, the eyes look good.

And eyes are quite tricky to do at this scale. In my opinion, a subtle suggestion of eyes often serves better than painting actual eyes.

yeah I have a hard time with my cameras to get close ups on 1/72 minis and see details. This time I used someones smart phone and took many shots, even on some other backgrounds, but these were the best ones.

the eyes look fine to me but I think he looks like hes wearing mascara.

Our eyes are trained to recognize only a bit of detail on persons far away. Look at a real life person when they are far enough away from you to be one inch tall. Note how much of the eyes you can see. Just a bit of darker space beneath the brows, in most cases.

Another thing about eyes is that most people have them about half open 90% of waking hours.

Anyway nice duel, great way to practice and improve technique. Watching certain forum members blossom from beginners all the way to grand masters is one of my favorite aspects of long-term participation.

maybe next time instead of trying to paint eyes, I will try to paint the illusion of the darkness from the eye sockets for that illusion there are eyes. use the tip of a pin for paint application.
