The 8th duel and it is another great one

This is a single mounted figure vs a single foot figure duel, with some basing, no specific period or any other requirements.

You have a week to choose your winner. Once again gentlemen take your places and may the best painter win.
Please leave comments until after the duel has finished

When I first saw this duel, I tought it was Thomas against Paul. Why Thomas? Because of the background ;-) , Francesco!
I like to congratulate both contestants for their beautifull work

I knew that the idea of putting trees in the background was going to be a winning one

that is not Thomas' own forest, is one of the seven hills of Rome (the Gianicolo hill) :-D

congrats to Paul because his scene was more dynamic than mine

Next year when I go on holliday to Bayern, I'll take all my painted figures with me, for making my pictures over there  Winners for sure ;-)
One problem with this, my wife shall have to take the train to get over there  And don't tell her, jokers  :joker:

So Francesco stole Thomas's background, and Paul stole Konrad's.

Nice entries both, I especially like the dynamism of the Gaul vs Roman scene, a keen eye for perspective too.
